| finished, 1999 |
Content: NC-17 (male masturbation;
implied virtual-cat-tonguejob)
Summary: Set in the "Ouroborous" storyline
of the final manga volume. While time passes inside the virtual dreamworld he's trapped Alita
within, Desty Nova finds himself starting to get anxious. He can't recall ever writing in a program
for the black cat that's been wandering around...
Author's Notes: Of all the fanfics I've done
for this series, this is the one I'd recommend reading. For something written in 1999, it's aged
rather well. Unlike... [coughs, glancing down at the last of this page's list] ...others
I could mention. |

The Scrapyard Chronicles
|

| From the Diary of Desty Nova |
| |
| Part 1 link - Part 3 link |
| unfinished; project abandoned as of 2000 |
Content: PG (One: creepy imagery), NC-17
(Three: rather clinically-described Nova/Eelai hetero sex)
Summary: A selection of "journal" notes from
Professor Nova's POV, theorizing about what went on before Alita crossed paths with the mad doctor.
Author's Notes: I didn't notice how badly
Nova's revelation hearkened to Neo's in The Matrix when I wrote it. Honest. I'm sorry.
This was planned to be a series, but procrastination and the then-brand-new
canon rewrite of Kishiro-san's Last Order series put this one on pause for so long, I'll be
shocked if I ever finish parts Two and Three, much less all five of the chapters I'd planned out.
Quick tour of what might have been, according to the notes I scribbled down
years ago: Nova would've started out Part Two generally angsting in Scrapyard bars at first, cursing
how he didn't think to barter around for his posh Tipharean cufflinks and such before grabbing the
first offer of a crusty apartment shelter he could find. He learns he could make a fair pile of
chips by getting to emergency patients before the streets' borg-doctors show up, but the idea of
dirtying Tiphares' medical genius with machine parts is so disgustingly contrary to what he'd been
taught all his life that when he finally scrapes enough equipment together to open up a roving
surgery service, he takes a twisted joy in warping the requests of his customers to their literal
meaning, shaping them into monsters for profit.
Balzard, as one of the chapter's subplots would have it, was originally just
a nameless ninety-pound weakling whose dream was "to be strong, more strong than anything else!"
Nova happily performed the operation, giving the guy all the brute strength and muscle a human frame
could fit, at the expense of both his brains and, when his superpowered idiocy landed him on the
bounty lists, his freedom, hidden from the law in exchange for becoming Nova's own bodyguard and
servant.
The sexpot Eelai was first found by the Professor as a heap of bloody body
parts dumped in an alley-- remnants from some unreported crime, apparently from some young girl.
Nova brought the remains back with him, using them as the first subject in a plan he formulated as
soon as he could manage the chips to carry it out: becoming a wish-granter to the world, regenerating
random corpses to give whatever battered souls he happens to come across a second chance... much as
he himself was given, for whatever it was worth. And the regenerated facial tissue of his
experiment's request, once its vocal cords grew into place? "I want to be beautiful. Like nobody
ever laid a hand on me. Or ever would." Nova feels generous at his success, and carries out her
wish without his usual "careful what you wish for" spin on it.
There would've been later chapters in which "Lily," Eelai's more docile early
self, had her obsessions and temptations gradually twist her into a self-absorbed dominatrix, as
told through Nova's bewildered, lovesick POV, but... ah, well. Would've been nice to flesh out, no
pun intended, but other things happened, as things tend to do. (Not that this didn't stop me from
snitching a few choice lines to use for stuff written years later, as observant readers can see.)
Just as a random sidenote: you can see the last lingering, vestigial nubs of
my heterosexuality flailing all through Part 3's lengthy sex scenes. The main seduction premise was
stolen from trashy softcore TV porn to begin with, but looking back on it, there's an eerie
connection I ended up writing in with Lily's situation. Feeling threatened by the very idea of sex
with a guy, only wanting it to prove it wouldn't be a nightmare to go through... Hmmmm, the
gerbil says while stroking chin with ponderous hand. |

| finished, 1998 |
Content: NC-17 (Nova/Eelai: generic
heterosexual nookie)
Summary: Eelai devotes herself to a new line
of study: Operation Get Back Her Boss's Sex Drive.
Author's Notes: ...Crap. I knew I'd have to
stop bullshitting notes for that last fanfic and get this one over with eventually, but... there's
a reason this one's last in the list. URRGH.
My very first ever lemon. You can just tell I was spending fifteen
minutes worrying before I could bring myself to type out the word "penis". Cliched, nauseatingly
so... I only suggest reading it if you're curious to see how I started out.
I have to admit, though-- all the basics for my future style were already
here. That is, awkward sex that usually ends up having horrible-yet-somehow-amusing consequences.
I just moved on from having it happen between actual humans so often.
(PENIS PENIS PENIS. See, I can do
it now.) |
